Yate Heritage Centre was formed in April 1995 gradually increasing its archive holding which covers the past heritage of Yate. This is mainly thanks to local and some not so local people donating material, such as documents, maps, photographs, artefacts and mementoes. The Town Council acquired the stable, a listed building, behind the White Lion Pub which restored has become the home for the Heritage Centre. The Centre is designed to be a gallery for a variety of local art and heritage groups. The resource centre contains photographs, documents, periodicals, directories and census materials which visitors will be able to access. All records are being fully computerized to ultimately provide a full electronic archive retrieval system for use by Schools and the public. |
The
Heritage Centre is available for meetings ... or as a venue for
local entertainment. So if you are a local group and would like to
