Chipping Sodbury Town Lands Charity

Chipping Sodbury Town Lands Charity was established to benefit the parishioners of the Ancient Borough of Chipping Sodbury which includes High Street and Broad Street leading up to Old Sodbury.

The charity, which was first registered in 1964, owns several buildings in Chipping Sodbury including The Town Hall and the Old Grammar School Building which is home to the library. Plots of land are also owned including Allotments in Hatters Lane.

The charity makes grants to individuals and organisations plus provides buildings, facilities and open spaces for the use and benifit of residents.

The objectives of the charity are to provide:

1.For the relief of the needy.
2.For the provision and maintenance of facilities for education, including further education,of pupils at St Johns Mead ,Old Sodbury and Chipping Sodbury School and of residents of the Ancient Borough. Grants are not made to subsidise items or work that should be provided by the Local Education Authority.
3.For the provision and maintenance of Facilities for Sport, Recreation and Leisure.
4.Promoting any charitable purpose for the benefit of the inhabitants of Sodbury
The charity does not make grants to areas outside the Ancient Borough (i.e.: The Birds Estate, Little Sodbury and Yate are all outside of the Ancient Borough)

Markets

Chipping Sodbury Farmers Market 2nd Saturday and Last Thursday of the month. The Thursday market begins at 9am and closes at 1pm.
