Berkeley Castle
is situated in Berkeley just off the A38 in 6,000 acres of
land. It was finished in 1153 by Robert Fitzhardinge, the
first of the Berkeley family, who was awarded the Castle by
Henry II. The estate includes a fine example of a mediaeval
deer park, a stretch of the River Severn and 18 tenant
farms. At-Bristol is a unique destination
bringing science, nature and art to life. A place of
discovery and surprise. |

Avon Valley Country Park or Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust,The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Headquarters, is located in Gloucestershire off junctions 13 or 14 on the M5. The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust founded in 1946 by the famous artist and naturalist Sir Peter Scott has 9 visitor centres throughout the country. Slimbridge is famous the world over for migrating water birds who come to spend the winter here. Visitors to the award winning visitor centre can enjoy the beauty of the landscape and get closer to the wetland birds seeing them in their natural habitat. There are several viewing hides throughout the centre overlooking these internationally protected wetlands. Conservation and biodiversity are the main programmes of the Trust. |
