Yate Choral Society

Chipping Sodbury Festival
Tickets for the festival, which takes place between Friday, June 12 and Sunday, June 21, are now on sale at Chipping Sodbury Tourist Information Centre.

This year’s theme for the festival is the French Connection, celebrating the town’s 30-year anniversary of links with the town of Cesson in France.

Broadcaster and comedian Barry Cryer  performs an evening of sketches, with his pianist Colin Sell, at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall on Wednesday, June 17. The script writer and panellist on long-running BBC radio comedy programme I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue is bringing his Still Alive tour to the region for the first time.

Superstar Wrestling returns to the Yate Leisure Centre on Saturday 20th June with the hottest event of the summer as CSF promotions host the 5th Annual Battle For The Belt event. The evening of family entertainment will see 6 Pro bouts take place featuring a total of 30 top stars. The Main Event will see the annual 20 man 'Royal Rumble' contest take place where all 20 competitors enter the wrestling ring and the only way to be eliminated is by being thrown over the top rope and down to the arena floor. The last man standing will leave Yate the All Nations Champion!

Doors open at 7pm with a 7:30pm start and 10pm finish. Tickets are priced at £9 Adults and £7 Concessions. On Saturday 13 June 2009, Thornbury Orchestra will be welcoming Elin White as guest soloist at its summer concert which will take place at 7.30pm, St Mary’s Church, Berkeley.

In her first appearance with Thornbury Orchestra, Elin White will be performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. The 17-year-old first started playing the piano aged four before taking up the violin three years later. The violin soon became her main instrument and she is now the leader of Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra. Elin was also a finalist in the Gloucestershire Young Musician competition where she was praised for her ‘engaging performance.’ In September Elin will be taking up her place to study violin at the Royal College of Music.
